THE PROJECT

It’s funny when you meet a potential client at a Halloween party. But despite the Maker’s Mark bottle costume and the Ginny Weasley get-up, a casual “so what do you do” conversation led to a discussion about delis, websites, and the wild efficiency of building online visibility through blogging. And within about a week, I was writing about sandwiches.

THE APPROACH

Full Belly Deli is the brainchild of two guys with a love of really great sandwiches. The delis are strategically located in blue-collar neighborhoods here in Reno and up in Truckee, where they began, and the food is big, hearty, creative, and true to its name. But despite their popularity, the delis hadn’t quite broken through to the mainstream crowd yet, so the goal was twofold – get better ranking online for relevant keywords and snag one of those “Best of” awards in an annual local contest. To make that happen, we finalized a list of search terms for which we wanted to rank and I started writing weekly posts to steadily build the existing website’s size and visibility.

THE UPSHOT

The website has consistent placement on the first page of Google for all the keywords we originally outlined, and the deli nabbed third place in the 2018 Best of Reno contest, baby! Next year, we’re gunning for first.
